Elective Course: American Foreign Policy
(1953-2025)

The course explores U.S. Foreign Policy from an evolutionary perspective, it covers the consequences of American policies, and evaluates these consequences for the U.S. and the world after the Second World War, the US's involvement in the Korean and Indochina wars, the Cuban Missile Crisis, Iraq and Afghanistan, Libya, and the US's involvement in the current conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. Special emphasis is put on exploring the American political system, the American Leadership, its soft power, smart power, hard power, and various doctrinal approaches from the perspective of IR theory, geopolitics, and geoeconomy.
