People to Follow in Our Region: Prof. Marcin Grabowski, UJ

It has been an absolute honor and privilege to visit an incredible academic and a true leader in our field Prof. Marcin Grabowski the Director of the Centre for International Studies and Development at the Institute of Political Science and International Relations of the Jagiellonian University of Krakow.

Marcin Grabowski needs no introduction he has graduated in International Relations from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. He studied at Columbia University in the City of New York (School of International and Public Affairs), George Washington University in Washington (Sigur Center for Asian Studies), and University of California, San Diego (School of International Relations and Pacific Studies), where he has completed the Global Leadership Institute program. He has prepared a Ph.D. dissertation The United States and the Economic Integration of the Pacific Rim since 1989, with a Special Focus on APEC and ASEAN, awarded in Jozef Kukulka Contest for the Best Dissertation Dealing with the Theory of International Relations.


Prof. Grabowski has conducted his research at Institute of Southeast Asian Studies in Singapore, Korea Institute for International Economic Policy in Seoul, Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies of the Waseda University in Tokyo, East Asian Bureau of Economic Research (EABER) in Canberra or Nordic Institute of Asian Studies in Copenhagen, School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) of Johns-Hopkins University and the APEC Study Center (University of California, Berkeley).

He taught at numerous universities, including Manipal University (India), University of Calcutta (India), Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (Spain), Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Israel), and University College Cork (Ireland). He served as an advisor to the Polish Minister of Higher Education and Science – in the framework of the Young Scholars' Council (2011-2013). He’s been a member of the Executive Council of the Central and Eastern European International Studies Association – CEEISA.
