The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine recently confirmed increased Russian activity in the border area and warned of potential actions that could extend the front line. OSINT Defender suggests that it starts to feel reminiscent of January and February 2022, as a Russian military train was recently observed near the city of Yefremov in the Tula Region, heading southeast toward the border with the Sumy Region in northeastern Ukraine. The train carried military equipment, including bridging, transport, and logistics gear, all bearing the new tactical markings seen during recent Russian offensive operations in the Kharkiv Region. This suggests that the current movement, along with the forthcoming offensive against the Sumy Region, is likely part of a larger-scale plan by Russia for further operations in northern and northeastern Ukraine.

Military equipment spotted on the train, including bridging gear and transport and logistics vehicles, bears new tactical markings recently observed during Russian offensive operations in the Kharkiv region. On all of the spotted vehicles, a new tactical symbol now replaces the letter Z, with which Putin's army initiated the war. At the beginning of the aggression, this symbol appeared not only on tanks and artillery but also in the windows of houses and offices in Russia, and even on the clothing of athletes representing Moscow.
