Piotr Pietrzak is the author of On the Idea of Humanitarian Intervention A New Compartmentalization of IR Theories (2021), which launches a systematic inquiry into the nature of the concept of humanitarian intervention, focusing on its primary function of the protection of endangered civilian populations and finding themselves at the grave risk of genocide. This is strengthened by a recollection of selected historical examples of similar events and the responses to them by the international community, empowered by our modern understanding of the principle of state sovereignty, human rights, and anti-genocide legislation. Applying the in-statu-nascendi ontology that accounts for the latest hybridized compartmentalization of various IR-related theories, the author provides a deep ontological inquiry into the nature, origin, and genesis of the idea of humanitarian intervention and opens up a broader debate on the limits of the principle of state sovereignty as well as on the international community’s ignorance of some of the most severe cases of human rights abuses around the world. This interview's main purpose is to explain Prof. Piskorska's way of doing things, her own in statu nascendi / process of creation. Her research is related to soft and smart power. It also touches upon the John Paul II University's efforts in helping Ukrainian refugees ever since February 2022 and Prof. Piskorska's recent efforts in bringing to life the academic network of 12 universities from Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia. The official signing ceremony took place on May 16 in Lublin, Poland. The network aims to conduct joint research and initiatives and establish direct links between science, economics, social life, and humanistic and religious aspects. An important element will also be the creation of a common scientific and cultural identity of the region while preserving the national identity of the participants. With the Battle of Aleppo is being practically won by the Syrian regime, the future of the Middle East lies in the hands of the anti-ISIS Coalition combating the jihadist forces in Mosul. The outcome of this confrontation will inevitably predetermine the shape of the entire region: the future of Islamic Caliphate, the prospects of the independence for the Iraqi Kurdistan, and what's more important the future of the Republic of Iraq as we know it, today. As we know, the ISIS commanders are still capable of persuading their brainwashed followers to fight the fight to the last man, the question remains whether President Donald Trump, will follow in the footsteps of his predecessors and commit his Administration to the task of preserving the Iraqi territorial integrity at any cost, or will he rely on his electoral campaign declarations suggesting isolating the United States from the Middle East's trouble.

Interview on the Political Situation in Asia in general and North Korea in particular Ph.D. MARCIN GRABOWSKI is an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Political Science and International Relations of the Jagiellonian University of Krakow. Dr. Grabowski has graduated in International Relations from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. He studied at Columbia University in the City of New York (School of International and Public Affairs), George Washington University in Washington (Sigur Center for Asian Studies), and University of California, San Diego, where he completed the Global Leadership Institute program. He has prepared a Ph.D. dissertation The United States and the Economic Integration of the Pacific Rim since 1989, with a Special Focus on APEC and ASEAN, awarded in Jozef Kukulka Contest for the Best Dissertation Dealing with the Theory of International Relations. Dr. Grabowski‘s research interests focus on the Asia-Pacific Rim, especially institutional arrangements of the region (APEC, ASEM, ASEAN, EAS, ARF, SAARC), U.S. and Chinese foreign policies and the International Economics. He conducted his research i.a. at Institute of Southeast Asian Studies in Singapore, Korea Institute for International Economic Policy in Seoul, Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies of the Waseda University in Tokyo, East Asian Bureau of Economic Research (EABER) in Canberra or Nordic Institute of Asian Studies in Copenhagen. He served as an advisor to the Polish Minister of Higher Education and Science – in the framework of the Young Scholars' Council (2011-2013). * This interview has been conducted four months before the 2018 North Korea–United States summit in Singapore during which the U.S. President Donald Trump met with North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un on June 12, 2018, ever since Prof. Grabowski along with other members of the Institute of American Studies and Polish Diaspora of the Jagiellonian University have expressed their opinions and shared with us prognosis about the possibility of the Korean Unification through the prism of the United States' grand strategy in South East Asia.
