Abstract/Description:

The roundtable aims at analyzing current changes in the structure and functioning of the international order. The immediate inspiration to take up this research problem is the aggression of the Russian Federation – a nuclear power undermining the principles of the order formed after the Cold War – on Ukraine. Equally important are such factors as 1) a noticeable redistribution of power in the international system - both in political and economic terms, 2) changes in the international strategies of the superpowers relying more and more on the argument of force, 3) erosion of the United Nations System, and 4) the questioning of the binding principles and rules of international relations by its participants. The panelists representing major CEE research institutions will attempt to answer the question of how individual states and international organizations respond to the current political security, and economic challenges and share their views on the possible future structure of the international system – whether it will be based on liberal values, and how its structure will be shaped (unipolar, bipolar or multipolar).
