During this lecture, we chatted about a more assertive PRC in the new world order that is very much in statu nascendi. We discussed the One Road, One Belt Initiative in the context of the Russian War in Ukraine, international trade, and ASEAN groups’ chance of uniting against a common security threat and helping Taiwan to preserve its independence in the event of a hypothetical outbreak of the regional conflict of global importance between China and Taiwan. Finally, we have drawn a number of useful parallels between the situation in the Balkans in the 1990s, in Eastern Europe, and in South East Asia.
