Meeting with Mr. Zbigniew Rau, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland
It was a semi-successful appearance of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Mr. Zygmunt Rau at CSIS today. He explained to his audience the basis of Poland's geostrategic positions when it comes to Russia's Assault on Ukraine, which ultimately is based on the Brzezinski & Giedroyc Doctrines suggesting that providing Ukraine with all means necessary to defeat the Russians is ultimately fulfilling Poland's own enlightened self-interest strategy & should result in securing our Europen security, freedom, and prosperity.
Most of Rau's responses were very precise, well-thought, confident, and sounded very reassuring, almost as if we have heard Zbigniew Brzezinski speaking, for, at the end of the day, Rau is right to stress that the Ukrainians fight for their freedom of Central, and Eastern Europe and this has a considerable impact on the whole transatlantic community. He is right to warn us against Russia, and he is right to ask other European countries to spend more on their conventional defense capabilities, for this is the best investment for the future generations to protect ourselves from "Ruski Mir". In this respect, Zbigniew Rau suggests "Si vis pacem, para bellum" meaning... “If you want peace, prepare for war.”
The biggest letdown of this presentation was the fact that Zbigniew Rau was still acting as a governmental official, and he had to present quite a dogmatic response to the last question when he defended the government's position regarding Poland's war reparations claim against Germany.
Given that it is more than 77 years since the II World War ended, and the chances for renegotiating post-war treaties seem rather unrealistic, It is obvious that Kaczynski/Morawiecki government is just using this historic argument for domestic purposes to appeal to their populist electorate ahead of next year parliamentary elections.
